Despite worse highband conds I even managed to improve my last years
score by 400k points. (2004 I had been first place EU assisted)
The separated tower with the A3S really helped to have a quiet RX on
the 2nd radio, so I could improve the number of 2nd radio QSOs.
This time all equipment stayed alive and also the operator could
stand almost all the time. Just 3 hours of sleep during the 2nd
night was enough.
As the lowbands are still my worst bands, I didn´t loose much
there.
Similar to last year I started on 40m, staying there almost all
night long and working 80/160 with 2nd radio. I worked most of the
DX on saturday and concentrated on 20m on sunday. Again I had a very
productive run on sunday afternoon not leaving the frequency for
hours! Westcoast was loud and as a highlight KH6ZM called in for a
welcome double mult!
Most of 10m was done on saturday, some QSOs really were a struggle.
Congrats to Bernd, VK9AA, he had the strongest singnal on 10m!
Very interesting to listen to the recordings that Randy, K5ZD did
during both CQWWs 2005. (www.k5zd.com)
Here you have the chance to hear, what your own signal sounds like
on the other side!
(and you get an excellent example of how to work fb SO2R)
