Again supporting OV A24 in the
Fieldday with their fine new club call DM1A. This was the 2nd
contest with the new call after WAEDC CW.
As conds promised to be quite bad we decided to do more antenna
work again and thus chose OC category, which means unlimited
antennas and high power!
With the help of some farm machines and the new crank up portable
tower it was possible to mount both beams together onto one tower,
separated by abt 2m. We tried the full length of the tower (17m),
but above 14m the whole thing got too unstable and so we stopped
at abt 14m for safety reasons.
But the height was satisfactory, this year the Moxon really
outperfomed the Windom, so most QSO were made on 40m, a new
experience as 40m normally is the difficult band from here.
Generally conds were quite bad (but what should one expect in the
bottom of the sun spot cycle?)
Nevertheless 9 countries made it into the log on 10m including a
QSY with an EI-station from 20 over 15 to 10!
Weather conditions were great during the weekend, bright sunshine
during friday afternoon and saturday, some mist on sunday morning,
but again sunny during disassembling which took only 1 hour this
year. (our record for OC)
See you again in 2006!
