Fieldday rule #1 says: "all equipment must be
washed during Fieldday weekend."
So this year this happened right in the beginning during all
antenna work on saturday morning. As soon as all stuff stood, it
stopped raining... But WX was good to us for the rest of the
weekend - and most important: no thunderstroms in sight! (No QRN
and No fear :-)
After all the antenna work of the last years we decided to
start in rectricted class this year. As you mainly work EU and a
lot of sporadic E (if you´re lucky) it is possible to work a
similar QSO total in CW fieldday regardless of your category. This
is a proven fact for us now, when you compare our results from the
last few years. Of course the score is higher with more antennas
and power, because you work some more DX multipliers.
This is obviously not true for SSB fieldday. In SSB more antennas
and more power always help to improve your score...
Our new fieldday crank up tower was really fun! I´m curious to
mount something more onto it as a wire maybe during winter season.
Conds were quite poor on saturday with only a short sporadic
opening, but fb low band conds and a very welcome sporadic opening
on 15 and 10 on sunday made it fun until the end.
Thanks to Ulrich, DG4BUL for his help in installing the station
and Stefan, DL1IAO, who again took the long car ride to DF0WA to
complete a perfect fieldday weekend!
