| Somehow this place liked me....I was
given the opportunity to operate from Vienna 4 times up to now:
1992: CQWW CW with BCC (DL6RDR, DL1GGT,
DJ0IP, DH0RAK)
1993: CQWW SSB with RRDXA (DL8OBC, DL2OBF, DK7YY, DL8OBQ, DL1QQ,
DG6FCT...)
1994: CQWW CW with BCC (DL6RDR, DL1GGT, DL6NCY, DH0RAK, T94JJ)
1999: CQWW SSB with RRDXA (DL2OBF, DL9YAJ, DL1EFD, DL3KDV, DF6VP,
DL5OB, OH2TA, JH4RHF)

The station is located in the Vienna International Center, which
is a impressive 29 floor building.
Because it contains important authorities there are high security
standards.
e.g. - you are not allowed to enter the building before abt. 17.00
GMT on friday before the contest
- a person of the local radio club has to be resident all the time
- during strong winds antenna assembling on the roof is forbidden
The first rule should create a new category in CQWW contests:
-> the assembling sprint category...
In fact you have to set up the whole station in 7-8 hours. Try
this, when you plan to build 2 stations with amps, 2 yagi antennas
and a lot of wires and verticals for the low bands.
Best results were a claimed 7 Mio points for CQWW CW (1993) and 10
Mio points for CQWW SSB (1999) both in M/S category.
Here are some impressions over the years:
